We take seriously Paul’s admonition, “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor. 9:7). The reason God loves a cheerful giver, as opposed to a sour, obligatory giver, is because a person that gives cheerfully is one that understands that their money isn’t theirs to begin with (1 Cor. 4:7; Rom. 11:36) and that giving money to further the work of the kingdom means investing it in a place where there is no danger of losing it (Luke 12:33).
